Achievements and Impact
WWAYI’s existing programs are already making significant strides in improving the lives of women, youth, and families.
Elimu Program and TeenMom Connect: These programs have already helped 12 young mothers complete their college education, demonstrating the power of education and support in transforming lives. Providing them with childcare, education, and community support enables these mothers to pursue their dreams and provide a better future for their children.
Repro-Mental Health Program: With over 500 youth reached through workshops and community engagement, this program is crucial in breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and reproductive health. Engaging community leaders and educators in these efforts ensures that the youth have a supportive environment as they learn about and make decisions regarding their health and well-being.
Hygiene Products and Menstrual Health: With 1,744 girls and 1,331 boys receiving hygiene products across 22 schools, the program is directly addressing period poverty and ensuring that girls stay in school, where they can excel academically and socially.
Kemi-Zola Project: Offering emotional, practical, and financial support to families who have experienced miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss, the Kemi-Zola Project has supported 7 families through one of the most difficult times in their lives, helping them heal and move forward.
NextGen Pathways: This program helps immigrant students navigate the challenges they face as they adjust to life in a new country, ensuring they can integrate into their communities and succeed academically. While it has helped 4 students so far, its potential to support more students is vast.
Collaborations and Partnerships
WWAYI collaborates with various local educational institutions, churches, grassroots organizations, other local nonprofits and community leaders to amplify its impact. These partnerships have fostered the organization’s efforts in providing comprehensive support and resources to women and youth.
Future Goals
At WWAYI, our commitment to empowering women, youth, and families drives us to envision a brighter future. Here are our key goals for the years ahead:
Expand Program Reach
Elimu Program: This initiative offers education and vocational training to underage mothers who had to drop out of school due to unplanned pregnancies. By providing a combination of academic and life skills education, the program helps these young women rebuild their futures. Expanding this program means reaching more young mothers who need support to continue their education and break the cycle of poverty.
TeenMom Connect: This program is designed to create a support network for underage mothers, offering childcare, mentorship, and access to community resources. Expanding its reach can help even more mothers regain their confidence, complete their studies, and prepare for a brighter future.
Hygiene Products and Menstrual Health: Addressing the issue of period poverty is crucial to ensuring girls remain in school and perform academically. Expanding this campaign ensures that more girls across rural and urban schools have the products they need, contributing to their health and education.
Mentorship and Leadership Programs: These programs are designed to empower young people, particularly girls and women, by fostering leadership skills and guiding them through personal, academic, and professional challenges. The mentorship component provides these individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate challenges, set goals, and achieve success. By offering a roadmap to personal and professional development, these programs will enable the next generation of women and youth to become effective leaders and change agents in their communities. Expanding these programs will help cultivate a strong network of empowered young women who can take on leadership roles and advocate for positive change in society.
We aim to enhance the Path-WWAYIs program to better support young immigrant students, especially women, by expanding educational assistance, including mentorship, enrollment guidance, scholarships, and career development. We will collaborate with colleges and universities, particularly their International Students Offices, to ensure a smooth transition and academic success.
Our program also provides essential legal and social integration resources to help women navigate cultural challenges and understand their rights. We promote economic empowerment through job training, financial literacy, and career advancement workshops. Additionally, we foster a supportive community through networking events and connections to housing, employment, and mental health services. This expansion is designed to empower immigrant women students to thrive academically, socially, and economically.
